Wilmington has 4 open mics a week, on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. They're all free to watch and free to get up.

Before you go up
Turn up early. Most of these rooms run a walk-up list at the venue, and the list fills.
Keep to the time you're given. The host is running a room, not a showcase, and going long is the fastest way to not get booked again.
Bring people if you can. A mic with an audience is a better mic for everyone in it.
